WAPI is a British Council forum that is a platform for visual and verbal artists in the underground, to showcase their art in pictures, words and now Fashion. Imani Int Model Management has come on board to add on fashion as a strong art within WAPI, thus giving opportunity to the young upcoming fashion creatives/designers, to showcase their talent during WAPI every month. We take the underground to mean the upcoming, the undiscovered, those who, by design or default, are not part of the mainstream. We believe that the underground in Kenya is a hotbed of activity and creativity, and we bring some of it to the fore for the discerning public through a regular (monthly) WAPI programme. Every month has a different theme that is relevant to current life situations. Artists exhibit works or perfom in front of an ever-growing audience drawn from all walks of life. Who can perfom and exhibit at WAPI? Anyone who can showcase an item or performance that is relevant to the theme of the month……besides fashion designers, WAPI has opened doors for poets, Emcees, graffiti writers, painters, dancers, animators, singers, acrobats and photographers. |
